Sweet Smiles and Genuine Hearts

Posted by Mary Etchison on

First day in Uganda was so exciting! It is my first experience out of the country and so I was a little nervous especially since I was the one that was suppose to share the first parable with the student that we were visiting.

When we arrived Kamwokya Primary School, (elementary) the welcome was so overwhelming and exciting. We took two vans and I was in the second one. As the first van pulled into the big yard, all of the children that were playing outside ran to the van. Then the van I was in pulled in and all the children shouted, and they were so excited that we were there. Stepping out of the van was even more exciting. When I stepped out of the van I felt like every child wanted to hold my hand, say hello, or hug me.

We managed to get through the crowd of children into the school and talked to Jane, who is the headmistress of the school and who Keith met and arranged for us to come and visit her school.

The children were so polite and sweet. I shared my parable along with Mackenzie Yates sharing hers, and we sang songs with them which had motions which they loved!

Overall the first day and first school I visited made me so happy and feel so blessed to be here. I loved all of the kids' sweet smiles and genuine hearts. First day feeling like a movie start too! Loved it and cannot wait for more to come.
