SHINE VBS Tuesday

Posted by Keith Duff on

We had another groovy day at VBS! Here are some of our SHININ’ moments!

In Smokin’ Bible Adventure, we learned about trusting God through the story of Stephen.

Stephen was a believer and had the Holy Spirit living in him. Those who didn’t believe in Jesus were upset and argued with Stephen. They even threw rocks at Stephen; but Stephen was not ashamed of his love for Jesus.

We have the promise of God to get us through our trials. We can earn the Crown of Life, just like Stephen when we trust the Lord for strength in times of trials and suffering.

In Groovy Missions, we learned about different animals that live in Uganda, like elephants, hippos, baboons and more. We talked about different foods that Ugandans enjoy. One of the most common foods is called matoke which is unripe bananas boiled and mashed…kind of like mashed potatoes. We also learned that one way to show someone we appreciate them is to give them a gift of food. Lisa had a basket that a friend had given her, filled with fruit! We practiced carrying baskets on our heads like Ugandans. A few even got to try carrying a baby doll on their back like the Ugandan mothers do! (Check out the pictures below!)

Let’s not forget our fundraiser! We’re still raising money to help support Juna Amagara Ministries’s ministry with orphans in Uganda. Children may still bring coins or cash to add to our growing total of over $100!

We had so much fun learning about new ways to give God glory, worshiping to a new rhythm, and hearing more about Uganda…stay tuned for more tomorrow!
