Overwhelming Appreciation

Posted by Kate Duff on

It rained all night and all morning, altering our plans a bit.  We had hoped to deliver several packages to children in the village, but were stuck at the guest house while we waited for the rain to stop.

A boy we had hoped to find while in Kishanje, Sam, showed up at the house with his mother. They were sopping wet after having walked for probably over an hour.  We gave him a pencil set (Thanks Weston!), and he had brought a basket, made by his mother, to send back to his sponsor family.  Even though she has an injured arm (it looks like it was broken and re-healed crookedly) she is able to hand weave beautiful friendship baskets. (I encourage those of you in Illinois to make it to Sozo Market in DeKalb after I get home where you will have the opportunity to buy one of her handmade friendship baskets to support of her family!)
