A Muslim Finds New Life in Christ

Posted by Keith Duff on

A few days ago we had the unique opportunity to witness the Christian baptism of a former Muslim! He shared his story with me as we walked to a school ministry earlier this afternoon. As the youngest of ten children, Joel was a youth leader in Islam. An acquaintance was demon possessed, and he and other Muslims were not able to help. His Christian roommate called two Christian friends and through prayer were able to free the person from his demon possession!

Joel realized that the Christian’s God must be the one true God and accepted Him as personal Savior! I told Joel that I had never talked to a Muslim, and I asked him where to start sharing with one about Jesus. He replied, “Let me tell you how to transform a Muslim.” I felt like I struck gold with the four-point sermon that followed! He reminded me that Christ walked the earth 500 years before Mohammed, and suggested I ask the following questions:

  1. If Mohammed is a giver of life, then why was it just over when he died? Where is the resurrection?
  2. Where are Mohammed’s witnesses and prophets? The vision he had that started Islam was witnessed only by himself.
  3. Muslims pray for Mohammed to enter heaven when they pray. If they must pray for him to enter heaven, then how can he himself be the way to heaven?
  4. Why, when Jesus gave glory to the Father, did Mohammed gave glory only to himself?

Joel said not to pity him because he is the only Christian in his family, for God has given him new life! He would appreciate prayers for his aging mother, whom he does not wish to go to hell.
