STRENGTHEN OUR SERVICE

John 20:19-23

 

As the disciples encounter the risen Lord we see:

1.  The setbacks of service.

  • These setbacks are seen in the lives of:
    • Apathetic April
    • Busy Buck
    • Optional-Obedience Ollie
    • Ignorant Izzy
    • Ill-Equipped Iris
    • Scared Sven

2.  The things that strengthen our service.

  • Our text reveals four truths to greater service:
    • Embrace the peace
      • Jesus' words were:
        • Unusual
        • Understandable
        • Undeniable
    • Examine the proof
    • Engage as a ministry partner
      • This involves:
        • Seeking the lost
        • Speaking the truth
        • Suffering well
        • Showing forgiveness to all
    • Embody His presence
      • Expectation
      • Example
