When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going
1 Kings 19:1-21
To rise above our times of discouragement we must recognize:
1. The misery that we can experience as Christians.
- These experiences can cause us to:
- Run away in fear.
- Rationalize our feelings.
- While these reactions seem natural we must:
- Remember the flawed heroes in Scripture.
- Be reminded of some common factors that cause depression.
2. The medicine God gives to encourage us.
- This encouragement involves some:
- Care.
- Compassion.
- Clarification.
3. The mission God calls discouraged Christians to engage in.
- To fulfill our mission we must be:
- Reminded of our calling.
- Reconnected to other Christians.
- Ready to coach others to take our place.
