Elijah #4 (SG) - On-the-Job Training

On-the-Job Training

1 Kings 17:17-24

God gave Elijah some "on-the-job training" at Zarephath.  Elijah passes with flying colors, and this is seen in:

A trial involving a great loss.

     This trial involved a:

  • Dead person.
  • Distraught parent.
  • Dumbfounded prophet.

His trust in his Lord.

This trust enabled Elijah to be:

  • Calm.
  • Compassionate.
  • Confident.

A testimony that is life-changing.

In this testimony we see that God's:

  • Man is vindicated.
  • Message is validated.
  • Methods are victorious.

Some guiding principles:

  • God will prepare you for the big troubles with little troubles along the way.
  • God is capable of the impossible -- Pray and live like it.
  • Live in such a way that shows you are a follower of God.
  • When times are at their darkest, remember God's promises.
