On-the-Job Training
1 Kings 17:17-24
God gave Elijah some "on-the-job training" at Zarephath. Elijah passes with flying colors, and this is seen in:
A trial involving a great loss.
This trial involved a:
- Dead person.
- Distraught parent.
- Dumbfounded prophet.
His trust in his Lord.
This trust enabled Elijah to be:
- Calm.
- Compassionate.
- Confident.
A testimony that is life-changing.
In this testimony we see that God's:
- Man is vindicated.
- Message is validated.
- Methods are victorious.
Some guiding principles:
- God will prepare you for the big troubles with little troubles along the way.
- God is capable of the impossible -- Pray and live like it.
- Live in such a way that shows you are a follower of God.
- When times are at their darkest, remember God's promises.
