The study of God's Word is essential to spiritual growth. Still, a daily encounter with the Bible can be difficult to sustain.
There are many tools to help you in this journey - two that we have found to be very effective are listed below. The first is available for free download and the second is also available to anyone in the VBC family who completes the first two weeks of the study (see below).
- One-Year Daily Reading Guides: We have two daily reading guides that will help you read through the Bible in a year. One takes you through it in the order the Old Testament and New Testament books are laid out and the other takes you through the Bible in a chronological order - the general order in which things occurred.

Three-Year Daily Study: For some, the one-year guides work great. Others find them difficult to keep up with or find that they are simply reading the text and not actually comprehending it. A great solution we have found to this is a daily devotional guide called Search the Scriptures that has been around for more than half a century. It takes you through the entire Bible - but breaks it down into smaller sections and poses questions to help you think through what you are reading.
Suggested uses:
20 minutes per day: read the selected passage and answer the questions
30 minutes per day: + write the answers to the questions in a journal (highly recommended)
40 minutes per day: + read supporting commentary (The IVP New Bible Commentary is a great one to try)
