I'm Sorry...So Sorry: The DNA of Biblical Forgiveness | Part 1

Passage: Philemon 1:1-7

Preacher: Philip Chapman

Series:Philemon

Detail:

Biblical forgiveness is found when we examine:

1.  The dilemma we all must face.
This is seen in two ways:
       ●  We are often hurt by others.
       ●  We tend to harbor those hurts.

2.  The disruption that unforgiveness brings to our lives.
     Choosing to withhold forgiveness:
       ●  Chains you and others to the past.
       ●  Causes bitterness to invade our lives.
       ●  Creates an open door for the devil.
       ●  Culminates in a strained relationship with God.

3.  The definitive authority on forgiveness.
Within the Scriptures we see how:
       ●  Forgiveness is defined.
       ●  God demonstrates it for us.
       ●  The parables display our two options.
       ●  Forgiveness is to be the Christ-follower's default response.

4.  The description of one who forgives.
     Forgivers:
       ●  Remember a sinner's need to be forgiven.
       ●  Have a strong relationship with  God.
       ●  Seek to refresh others.
