Over 70% of Americans die with either no will at all (63%) or without a current, relevant will (8%). Don't let this statistic include you!
While you probably do not expect to die soon, the reality is that death often comes unexpectedly. Estate planning is all about caring for the loved ones around you by being prepared should the unexpected happen.
The goal of this workshop is to kick-start the process of creating an estate plan – or updating one that was created more than 5 years ago.
Some of the topics that will be addressed are:
- Last Will and Testament (a "Will"): Reasons to have a will. What happens if you have one, and what happens if you don't.
- Trusts: When you should consider one.
- Nomination of Guardian for Children Under 18 (for the care of your children)
- Financial Power of Attorney
- Medical Power of Attorney
- Living Will
- The probate process
- Estate taxes
This workshop is free, but registration is required below.
If you are married, it is highly recommended that your spouse attends as well.

This workshop will be led by experienced estate planner, Eric Johnson. Eric is a practicing attorney in DeKalb and is also the Chief Administrative Officer for the Township of Schaumburg. |
