Parent & Child Dedication Class
Sunday, March 11, 2012, 12:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Because we know how much time and effort must be invested in parenting, we want to invest time in parents to help them see the biblical steps toward Christ-centered parenting. Central to our mission here at Village is for families to function as discipleship centers, and for parents to take the lead in passing their faith to their children.
An important step in this discipleship process is for families to participate in a Parent and Child Dedication ceremony. This is an opportunity for parents to come before the church to dedicate themselves to God as Christ-centered parents who will seek to raise Christ-centered children. The parents who participate will also use the opportunity to dedicate their child to the Lord, the giver of life, surrendering all worldly claims upon their lives. This is in the hope that the children will develop into wholly-devoted followers of Christ.
If you have not had the opportunity to dedicate yourself and your children to the Lord, then we would like to invite you to take the next step: attend our upcoming Sunday afternoon Parent and Child Dedication workshop on March 11 at the Sugar Grove Campus (1-3pm with optional lunch at 12:30pm - childcare will be provided). This interactive workshop will equip you with tools to carry out the biblical mandates God has given as parents. This parent class is a mandatory prerequisite of the Parent and Child Dedication ceremony. This is a new step we are taking to work through how a biblical commitment to parenting practically looks.
The ceremony on an upcoming Sunday morning is then an opportunity for you, as parents, to publicly express your commitments to the Lord and to the church. We want you to do all in your power to impress a love for God and His Word on the hearts of children. In return, the church family is given the opportunity to commit to partner with the family in this process.
If you are interested in making these commitments, please RSVP on this webpage, in your friendship registry, at the Welcome Center, or by calling one of our church secretaries. We look forward to serving you as we partner to raise Christ-centered children.
