Winter is an AWESOME time to head to the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Cap off your Christmas season this year with us at the beautiful and fun Silver Birch Ranch. The camp is in a beautiful setting in the Nicolet National Forest on Sawyer Lake. There are a lot of fun things to do as a family - and it's a great place to slow down and enjoy God's creation.
So, what is there to do in the winter time? Well, the best way to answer that is to tell you to watch our slideshow from last winter:

As you can see, some of the options include: cross-country skiing, ice skating, horseback riding, ice fishing, tubing (awesome tubing hill), power-tubing (tube across the frozen lake behind a snowmobile), sleigh rides, indoor climbing wall, animalball (broomball without sticks - a favorite of our families), whip-sled, pony rides - or just hanging out in front of a big fireplace with a book or a board game with your family.
Family camp offers extended time to build relationships, create shared memories, relax and enjoy fellowship with others in your immediate family and our extended church family. Often times, more happens relationally with other church families during family camp than a whole year back at church - because we leave behind the hecticness of our daily lives. This fellowship continues on once we're back home as we gain a certain "entitlement" to ask deeper questions of each other because a baseline of relationship has been established while at camp. Family camp is time, well spent!
48 people from our church were part of VBC Family Camp in the Northwoods of Wisconsin (White Lake) this week. The purpose of this week was to get away, slow down and strengthen relationships - with God, with their family and with other VBC families. Thank you for your prayers for us while we were gone - the week was great.
In the summer time, some of the things your family might choose to do include (at no additional charge): Water Skiing & Tubing. Fishing. Playing at the beach. Sailboarding. Swimming. Kayaking. Horseback Riding. Archery. Riflery. Crafts. White Water Rafting. Hay Rides. Read a book on the beach. Canoeing. Campfires. Baseball. Mini-Golf. Climbing walls..

We had a great time at our winter family camp which took place 12/26-12/29 at Silver Birch Ranch in White Lake, Wisconsin (about 1 hour south of the Upper Peninsula). As you can see from our pictures, there was plenty of snow, tons of fun, endless food and great times together. Family camp provides an opportunity to invest some quality time together as a family along with others from church. This year the VBC Animal Ball team consisted of 5 adults and 14 children - and we took second place in the tournament! (Animal Ball is like hockey - except it's played with hands rather than sticks...) Lindsey Wagner said it was because we had so many kids who were too "little and cute" for the highschoolers and adults on the other teams to steal the ball from them. I think she was right!
We had a great Family Camp this past week at Silver Birch Ranch Camp in the northwoods of Wisconsin. Lots of outdoor fun (water skiing & tubing, horses, fishing, climbing walls, put-put golf, sandy beach, canoe trips, paddle boats, hay rides, pontoon boat rides, crazy games, kayaking, sailboarding), good food that mom didn't have to cook, great friends to hang out with - and it's economically priced to boot.
